Wild Child

Feral children (aka wild children) are children who have been isolated from human contact at a very early age. They do not experience the human love, care, intimacy, socialization, and language need to develop and mature healthily. Some are said to be raised by animals and some lived in the wild on their own.

Contrary to fictional examples, like Tarzan, feral children do not experience superior strength, survival instincts, and normal human intelligence. In fact, most have minimal social skills and have missed a crucial period in their life to learn language. When discovered much of the damage is irreversible.

Pursuit of Happiness

While reviewing articles for an exam I came across a very interesting one by Robert E Lane explaining the relationship between friendship, consumerism, and happiness. It points out that

"increasing consumption-oriented activities at the cost of friendship explains an important portion of the recent growth in clinical depression"

In plain terms: Money can't buy you happiness!

Lane goes on to give 5 reasons why giving friendship priority over commodities promises to protect against depression and lead to happiness. They are as follows:

1. Satisfactions of friendship mature slowly whereas pleasures of consumption are often instantaneous

2. Friendship is a variable-sum game and eternally expandable

3. Self esteem (key characteristic associated with happiness and effective guard against depression)

4. Friendship reward systems are based on praise which is interpreted as informational opposed to controlling

5. In comparison to consumption, friendships are economically friendly

So instead of sitting at home watching television, playing video games, shopping for the next big toy, or simply socially isolating yourself try picking up the phone and calling a friend to hang out with. Don't worry about buying the latest and greatest, because in the words of JLo "love don't cost a thing"

The Liberty Village restaurant Mildred's Temple Kitchen is inviting diners to have sex in their bathrooms as a Valentine's weekend promotion. Apparently their unisex bathrooms have already been the setting for some sexcapades so why not capitalize on it for this special weekend celebrating love...

For $55 you can purchase a "love hamper" full of goodies including furry handcuffs, oils, pecan squares, and a decorative birdcage (a little bit of everything it seems).

A maid has been hired to tidy up the bathroom between visits and according to Toronto Public Health, as long as there is no sex in the kitchen and the washroom stays sanitized there will be no fuss.

Mildred's wants their modern bathrooms to be one of the "101 places to have sex before you die" so if you feel like scratching that off your list next weekend I suggest you book a reservation and purchase your "love hamper" today!
